Spin system a selected as a trace through GTOCSY spectrum

All signals belonging to ring a are visible as a 1D spectrum without interference from resonances of rings b and c ("chromatography" effect) although the H1 protons a and c are only separated by 0.06 ppm!
The digital resolution in the trace is much worse than in the 1D spectrum but the peak shapes remain almost unchanged; the same applies to the coupling constants which are responsible for the splitting of the peaks into doublets, doublet of doublets etc.

Spin system b

There is no trace available for this spin system. Its separation from the other two is trivial as the H1 proton is very far away from the other two.
