VNMR to VNMRJ transition: update
Over the summer months several spectrometers were changed over from VNMR to VNMRJ. As noted in the last issue of NMR News, on systems using the UNIX Solaris Operating System, the VNMR and VNMRJ interface can co-exist. This leaves the operator of the spectrometer or data station the choice which version of the software to use. The following page provides an overview of the current state of the VNMR to VNMRJ transition: VNMR to VNMRJ transition schedule. There are currently only 2 instruments left with VNMR only: the i600 and m400. All the others are "dual" or, in case of u500, VNMRJ only. It is highly recommended, especially for beginners, to use VNMRJ. The availability of both at the same time will come to an end at some point and VNMRJ will be the only choice left (whether it is liked or not...).  The icon highlighted in yellow starts the VNMRJ interface, while the other one opens VNMR:

ProTune on the i400
Not really news anymore: as announced, i400 in the sub-basement has now also ProTune installed and allows the same kind
of easy tuning like u500 to various nuclei without any need for cable switching or even leaving the operator's chair. A new
computer has been installed as well. Except for a slightly lower field and associated lower sensitivity and dispersion, this
spectrometer has essentially the same capabilities as the u500.
