NMR Core Facility Manager
The Scripps Research Institute (TSRI) is currently seeking an NMR Core Facility Manager for its Florida facility. The selected candidate will oversee the daily operation of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Core Facility, with responsibilities including: development of operating procedures; training of NMR Facility users; and providing researchers with state-of-the-art NMR instrumentation and technical support in NMR experimental design. The NMR Core Facility Manager will participate in the preparation and writing of instrumentation grant proposals, and, when appropriate, engage in collaborative research with faculty and outside users. In addition, will develop instrument scheduling and use policies and charge rates in collaboration with the Senior Director of Scientific Support Operations; train and certify users on the proper and safe use of the instruments; help users achieve independence on the instruments; assist users in assessing their experimental and instrumental needs; act as a resource by fielding questions and offering expert guidance in available NMR spectroscopic methods; establish and maintain an up to date website with information pertinent to Core policies, procedures, training, and instrument scheduling; assist faculty, outside users and corporate clients with NMR experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis of experimental results; develop and apply QC methods and instrument standby conditions to assure user ready operation; ensure that instruments are maintained to the highest working standards, including regular hardware/software maintenance; determine cryogen fill schedule; order cryogens; oversee and/or perform cryogen fill; oversee the installation of new hardware and software; negotiate and supervise any service contracts with vendors as they relate to the Core; and order parts and/or services as required. In addition, may develop independent research programs as appropriate to TSRI goals or engage in collaborative research with members of the Institute and Core users when appropriate; may publish original work in peer reviewed journals or attend scholarly conferences; may participate in the writing and preparation of NMR instrumentation grants within guidelines determined by the Senior Director Scientific Support Operations; and perform other duties as assigned.

A Ph.D. with background in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related disciplines and a minimum 5 years experience with multi-dimensional NMR applications to small molecules is required. Experience managing an NMR facility and overseeing instrument usage and maintenance. Excellent skills in experimental design and data analysis as well as excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required. Skills in pulse sequence implementation and experience with biomacromolecules (proteins & nucleic acids) is preferred. Experience in both software and hardware aspects with Bruker BioSpin's spectrometers is also preferred. Florida & Palm Beach County residents preferred.
